8th grade Class Party

Friday, June 7th

7:00 - 10:00 p.m.

Pine Valley Courtyard and MPR

Our 8th grade class party will have something for everyone: finger food, games, temporary tattoos and, of course, a DJ. The party will be held from 7:00 till 10:00pm on Friday, June 7th at Pine Valley.

The Pine Valley dress code needs to be followed for the party.

8th grade Class Trip to Six Flags

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Trip

Wednesday, June 12th

8:45 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Eligible 8th grade students will travel by school bus to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo on Wednesday, June 12th. The buses to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom will leave Pine Valley at exactly 9:15 a.m. Students are not to arrive on campus before 8:45 a.m. We expect to be back to Pine Valley between 6:00 - 6:30 p.m.

All students who attend the Six Flags Discovery Kingdom trip must travel to and return from the trip on the same bus. This enables us to more easily account for all students. The buses return to Pine Valley between 6:00- 6:30 p.m. This means that students must be at their assigned bus in the Six Flags Discovery Kingdom parking lot at exactly 4:45 p.m. Students should wear a watch or carry a cell phone, as being on time is very important.

STUDENTS WHO ARE NOT GOING TO SIX FLAGS DISCOVERY KINGDOM:

The Six Flags Discovery Kingdom trip is a school event taking place on a school day. If you are not attending this event, you are expected to attend school. If you are ill, your parents may follow the usual call-in procedure to report your absence. Any PV student who is at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is required to be with a school-sponsored chaperone. A PV student who is not signed up for Six Flags and is not at school or legally excused by a parent is cutting school according to school attendance law. Consequences will be assigned.

In order to cover the costs incurred for many of the 8th grade activities, which includes the field trip to Discovery Kingdom (admission, lunch, and transportation) as well as costs associated with the Promotion Ceremony at Cal High, parents are asked to contribute a donation TBD. No child will be denied access for non-payment. Thank you!

BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS FOR SIX FLAGS DISCOVERY KINGDOM

Adult chaperones and PV staff members will accompany the 8th graders on this trip. Students will be informed of a common meeting place in the park where they will always be able to find a Pine Valley adult. Once inside the park, students will be free to go off in small groups unaccompanied by adults to attend events or go on rides of their choice. It is expected that all students will conduct themselves in an appropriate manner while at the park. Although we are off campus, students must remember that this is a school day and a school event, and all school rules still apply.

If students are engaged in any activities that result in suspension, they will NOT be allowed to attend the 8th grade promotion ceremony.

8th grade Promotion

Thursday, June 13th

8th grade students DO NOT attend Pine Valley at all on Thursday, June 13th:

Promotion Practice is from 9:00-10:15am; Check into CHS Commons no later than 9:00am

Return to CHS Gym by 5:30pm

Promotion Ceremony is 6:00-7:00pm, California High School Football Field

The dress guidelines for the Promotion Ceremony can be described as "dressy casual". Pine Valley dress code is slightly altered for this event. The SRVUSD has the following dress guidelines for the 8th grade party and for the Promotion Ceremony:

BOYS: Shirts and slacks or dress shorts are suggested; tie or jacket are optional; NO tuxedos or parts of tuxedos.

GIRLS: Strapless anything, mini-skirts, bare backs or low cut tops and bare midriffs are NOT permitted. Yes, you may wear spaghetti straps. In addition, girls must not wear heels less than one-inch wide. The heels will sink into the turf and track at California High School, causing injury to the student and damage to the grounds.

FOR EVERYONE: No exterior decorations such as signs or flowers; no jeans, hats, t-shirts or shorts; no limousines or other ostentatious displays.
